Orthodontic treatment is a great way to finally achieve the perfect smile. However, there may be complications in your journey, like broken brackets. Having a broken bracket is very common, and there are some things you can do to quickly improve the situation, like:

Check the damage
First, check to see if the bracket is still attached to the wire. If it is not, simply remove the bracket from your mouth, keep it in a safe place, and bring it into the office with you when you come in for your next appointment. We will glue it back into place if possible. If the bracket is still attached, keep it in place and stabilize it by putting orthodontic wax around it.

Take control
If a wire is protruding out of place and bothering you, you can clip the wire with fingernail clippers. It’s best to clip the wire as close to the bracket as possible. This will help keep your lips, cheeks, and tongue safe from injury.

Make an appointment
Make an appointment to get your bracket fixed as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the longer your treatment time will be delayed. When you call, tell us about the situation so we can be ready to help you when you come into our office.
